A PRE-SCHOOL in Box is challenging the norm by teaching children outdoors whatever the weather, is celebrating after Ofsted graded it as outstanding following its first inspection. Woodland Adventurers' Outdoor Kindergarten was praised in the report published on October 5, which highlighted the quality of teaching, staff support, children's behaviour and opportunities at the outdoor nursery in Boxfields. Director Chris Harvey said: "It is quite unusual to get outstanding in the first assessment apparently but we have a different emphasis and the children are outdoors all the time. "They are very excited all the time but very engaged with whatever we do so it feels as if we are challenging the norm and getting very positive results. "The report is glowing. We have such an amazing team here and it takes a very special type of person to teach outside no matter the weather, rain or shine, and remain upbeat and happy."
