Course programme

18 mandatory credits are required to achieve the qualification of Level 3 Certificate in Forest School Programme Leadership.  This means completing 5 units with the general subject areas as follows:

Unit 1	Outdoors Environment
Unit 2	Learning and Development
Unit 3	Planning Forest School
Unit 4	Practical Skills
Unit 5	Delivering Forest School

The qualification is a Level 3 course which is considered equivalent to an Advanced Level (A-Level) qualification. Coursework must be completed within 12 months from course commencement. 

Coursework is marked, internal verified and in addition, external verified by the awarding organisation. Certification is issued to students that meet the qualification standards in full and within the permitted timescales.

Entry requirements

• Minimum age is 19 years and you will need to confirm your identity.
• Fluency in speaking and writing in English as it is a requirement that all delivery and assessment of this qualification is conducted in English.
• Demonstrate an interest in embracing and promoting Forest School principles in educational settings.  
• Experience working with children (or other appropriate group). Teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential. 
• Computer literate - access to and ability to use commonly recognised word processing software packages (such as Microsoft Word), conversant in using internet search engines and websites (including creating and using confidential password access where appropriate) and use of email.

Course location

At your setting, in your home or wherever it best suits you as appropriate. We provide you with all the course content and course requirements to support you getting the qualification. The same material that you would get if you were on the face-to-face F2F equivalent course. You will need to run 6 sessions with a group in a setting and you will need to write 5 assignments that meet the course standards (which are to a level that is considered equivalent to an A level qualification).

​So you will need to be able to access a reasonable internet connection and to be able to use word processing software to create PDF documents. You will need to carry out practical tasks in your location and setting, as well as complete written assignment work. Provided you meet the entry requirements, your fees are paid up to date and you have completed all assignments to the required standard then you will be able to achieve the full qualification.  

Our team may arrange to visit you in your setting as appropriate but this is not mandatory.

Note:  All training courses are subject to minimum and maximum numbers of learners.  Should a complete course be cancelled by Woodland Adventurers then your booking will be transferred to another date or a full refund will be offered.
