Woodland ActivitiesOur activities are aimed at connecting children with nature and the great outdoors. Through active team games and other exciting activities we can bring the curriculum to life. Sessions and activities are tailored to the group taking into account school objectives, the children's ages and the less predictable natural environment such as the weather conditions. Typical activities may include camp-fire, toasting marshmallows, den-building, team games and more. The sessions are outdoors and exposed to the elements. Children and accompanying grown-ups should come prepared for all weather conditions including sturdy footwear, lots of layers of clothing (e.g. minimum 4-5 layers) plus waterproofs combined with up-for-it, positive can-do attitude. The more up-beat we are, the more fun the children (and grown-ups) will have! A typical day

IMPORTANT:
Our Quarry Hill, Box, Corsham site is a woodland with many trees that are exposed to nature. Trees provide some level of shelter from rain, but generally if it rains we will get wet! It is absolutely essential that all visitors (both children and accompanying grown-ups) come with the right clothing, meaning lots of layers, waterproofs and sturdy footwear (and in the warmer months sun hats and sun cream) as well as a "can do" and "up for it" attitude to maximising the outdoor experiences for all, especially the children.

Risk AssessmentsDetailed risk assessments are carried out for the activities and location and there are first aid qualified instructors present. However, it important for the school to conduct their own risk assessments as they have responsibility for the safeguarding of the children in their care. This may include consideration for coach drop and pick up procedures as well as considerations for children, accompanying staff and volunteers during the day, such as allergies, health and fitness of participants, accessibility, first aid, identification and head counts, clothing and footwear. |
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)We welcome children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Some important considerations include the uneven and sometimes steep terrain within the woodland as well as muddy areas, particularly on wet days and near the farm animals. Also there are no disabled toilets in the woodland/on site. If you or the children in your care have additional or specific needs please get in touch so that we can determine the suitability of our activities and the natural outdoors environment/facilities.
