REGULAR COURSE: Course requiring attendance in person and online study

This qualification enables you to become a Forest School leader in a school, early years or other setting.
There are 5 attendance days according to the course dates that you choose. During these days you will cover 5 units of coursework.
There are 5 written assignments that match the 5 units and you will have access to our comprehensive online material. You will also need to run 6 Forest School sessions with a group in your own setting. The level of work could be compared to that of an A Level qualification where you will need to write assignments and produce evidence of meeting the qualification requirements.
Timescales: Standard Learning: 12 months completion Accelerated Learning: 6 months completion UNIT 1: WOODLAND ENVIRONMENT
Unit 1 focuses on the countryside and outdoors where you could be running your forest school sessions. As a Forest School leader you will need some understanding of nature including, plants and animals, the environment and how to positively connect your learners to the natural world. UNIT 2: LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Unit 2 focuses on how people learn, covering learning theories and learning in forest school. You will cover holistic learning and the impact of behaviour on learning and development. UNIT 3: PLANNING FOREST SCHOOL
Unit 3 focuses on the aspects that you will need to have in place for running your forest school programme. You will need to create a forest school handbook and plan six sessions. UNIT 4: PRACTICAL SKILLS
Unit 4 covers some of the practical skills that you may need to consider in your forest school including safety considerations for your staff and your learners, such as camp fires, using basic hand tools, building shelters and tying knots. UNIT 5: DELIVERING FOREST SCHOOL
Unit 5 focuses on you delivering your six sessions that you previously planned in unit 3. You will need to deliver these to a group of learners in your own setting. For example, this may be one session per week for six weeks. Some use their school or early years setting, others may deliver sessions to children of family friends. You will need to reflect on each session and adapt future sessions to support the progress of your learners. Learning Management System LMSThere are five units to complete. You will have access to the Learning Management System LMS which will guide you through all the course requirements for the five units. There are short videos to watch, images and written course content. You will need to write five assignments, one for each of the five units. You are welcome to read around the subjects using other material, such as books, however all the content that you need for the qualification is on the LMS. Have you considered our online courses? Note: Many of our learners are qualified teachers or teaching staff from schools and early years settings, although this is not mandatory. Note: All training courses are subject to minimum and maximum numbers of learners. Should a complete course be cancelled by Woodland Adventurers then your booking will be transferred to another date or a full refund will be offered.

How does it work?You will need to decide whether to complete your course in 6 months (Accelerated) or 12 months (Standard).
You pay to register. You attend onsite sessions covering Units 1 to 5. During the sessions you will be given access to all online course material for Units 1 to 5. There are 5 Units to complete in total and each Unit requires a written assignment and there is some practical work. You will be guided through the course and you will have access to us throughout your course for any questions. Once all the work is completed sufficiently for all 5 Units we will be able to put you forward for your qualification. ProgrammeThere are two timeframe options for the REGULAR course.
STANDARD LEARNING
There are 12 months to complete the course. This works well for students with a busy lifestyle who are juggling lots of issues. However it is important to make the most of the time available and to spread the workload throughout the year to avoid pressure towards the deadline. ACCELERATED LEARNING
There are 6 months to complete the course. Same course material. Aimed at students who plan to complete the requirements quickly. This works well for students that are focused and the qualification is a priority. Aim for at least one assignment per month to avoid pressure towards the deadline. OFQUAL REGULATED. The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.
