We have considered the exposure of the outdoors and so are planning to use a poly tunnel or greenhouse to give them more of a fighting chance (without heating).
Current considerations are planting for crops of broad bean, onion, pea, Chinese cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, beetroots, lettuce, parsley, rocket, spinach, kale celery, chicory and chard. Our research for these and others is just beginning and time is quickly running out...Eeek!!! It sounds like we need many of these sown by the end-September to be in with a chance! Only a week and a half left and the summer crops need to be cleared away. Sounds like a formidable task and probably good to have set our expectations low :-).
